As a senior Andre Williams nearly quadrupled his production from the year prior as the Boston College product led the nation in rushing (by a lot) and placed fourth in Heisman voting in 2013.
Williams boasts an impressive skill set reminiscent of a new age Jerome Bettis. While not the fastest running back, Williams is as powerful as anybody and is a true downhill runner. Williams displays great vision and hits the hole assertively, avoiding negative yardage.
As a bigger back though, Williams lacks breakaway speed and homerun hitting ability. While his yards per carry were exceptional as a senior at Boston College, he isn’t expected to be breaking off many long runs at the next level. Also working against him is his lack of experience in the passing game, both as a receiver and in pass protection, which will most likely lead to him being a two-down back at the next level.
A team looking for a running back to compliment a more dynamic running back could find Williams to be a valuable acquisition in the middle rounds. He's a nice player, but not a starter.
